Imagine the University of Maryland with
nothing more to offer than academic classes.
No clubs, no student organizations, no service
opportunities. Gone are the leadership programs,
extensive health and wellness programs and
even the residence halls. That would be the
University of Maryland without the Division of
Student Affairs.
We help students land internships, become
leaders and prepare for careers. We provide
meals, a home away from home and fun activities
that create a sense of community and loyalty.
We support students and provide the services
they need whether they spend time at the Stamp
Student Union or have to schedule an appointment
at the University Health Center.
It is our responsibility to enhance each
student’s development by complementing the
academic experience with access to leadership
opportunities, cultural experiences, civic
engagement and tools for personal development.
As a truly great institution, the university must
provide resources to continue to expand its
emphasis on the whole student.
We must provide the best possible programs,
services and facilities for students both in and
out of the classroom. We must offer unparalleled
leadership training, experiential learning and
other resources that encourage personal growth.
Our goal is to raise $11 million to ensure that
Student Affairs keeps pace with the university’s
continually advancing academic and research programs.
Private support in several key areas will
allow us to meet the needs of today’s Maryland
students and help each one develop into a responsible,
healthy, civically engaged leader.
